Why Do I Keep Blaming Others? | Clearing The Attic #8: Blame
|
Every conversation begins with a metaphor. The real conversation begins when you notice it in your own life.
|
Have you ever noticed how much energy blame quietly consumes? Maybe it's blaming another person.
Blaming yourself. Or blaming life for not unfolding the way you hoped it would. Welcome to Clearing The Attic - a series of conversations exploring the boxes we've been carrying through life and what happens when we're willing to gently open them. During conversation #8: Blame, we explore how blame quietly pulls our attention away from the present moment and keeps us emotionally invested in stories that no longer serve us. |
Blame isn't simply about who's right or wrong. It's about where our attention goes. And where our attention goes, our emotional energy follows. Every time we replay what someone should have done - or what life should have been - we unknowingly invest more of ourselves in a story from the past. The more energy we give to whatever is keeping us from peace, the less energy is available to experience the peace that's already here.
🗝️ This Week's Attic Invitation
This week, simply notice the moments when blame begins to arise.
Maybe your mind says…
"They shouldn't have..."
"I should have known better..."
"Life shouldn't be this way..."
Don't argue with those thoughts.
Don't justify them.
Don't judge yourself for having them.
Simply notice.
Then quietly ask yourself…
Where is my attention right now?
And if my attention is there…
Where is my energy?

👀 What Did You Notice?
Blame often feels justified.
It promises that if someone else changed… or if the past had been different… peace would finally arrive.
But awareness invites a different possibility.
Perhaps blame isn't exhausting because of what happened.
Perhaps it's exhausting because our attention—and our energy—keep returning to the same story.
As your attention returns to the present, something begins to soften.
Not because the past changes.
But because your energy is no longer being asked to live there.
