Once you arrive at your networking event, what is your first plan of action? Keeping in mind that everyone at the event has their own agenda in mind; how can you draw another person into conversation?
Networking is simply about meeting new people, getting to know them, then deciding if you have enough in common that you are both eager to meet again, one on one, to get to know each other better!
Was that clear?
Please notice that nowhere in that paragraph did it state that you are there to sell your business or product. No one wants to be sold to and people want to do business with people they know.
Networking is all about meeting people, getting to know them, and potentially helping them. That’s it!
When looking to “work the room,” always refer back to the definition of networking.
When your objective is to learn something about other people — whether it is culture, trends, upcoming conferences, product information, related articles and publications, or further contacts, it shows you as a person of integrity. Helping someone in your target market is even better. Keep in mind that what you give away will be returned tenfold!
Remember, you’re looking to start a relationship. Choose your attitude before arriving at the meeting. Be genuine, have fun and most of all, get out there!

Take a look at your business card; does it show people that you are REALLY in business?
Another key item to look at is your branding – does your business card make your brand memorable or are you using a template from a generic card site. Have you ever collected business cards only to find several cards with the same design but different businesses? It can be confusing to the person reading your card.
If you are ready to create a New Beginning in your business, you may want to keep these very important steps in mind when ordering your next set of business cards.

When you set an intention to bring about something you really want in your life; do you know how to ask for it?
For instance, if you want to make an extra $500 per month, how to you ask for the money?
Knowing HOW to ask for what you want is as important as what you are asking for. Simply stating that you want to earn $500 per month, is limiting. What if you concentrated on earning only $500 per month and you lost your current income and were only able to earn $500 per month?
A better way to set your intention is to say, “I appreciate being able to earn an extra $500 or more, free and clear, every month.” Stated this way, you are not limiting your potential earning power.
It has been proven that, “what we think about, we bring about” so what are you thinking about? If you are constantly concentrating on “lack” you will bring about more lack in your life. If you are concentrating on abundance, you will bring about more abundance. Abundance often comes from places you could not have foreseen so make sure never to limit your thinking!
If you feel like you have heard this advice (or something similar) but are having difficulty getting to that “abundant thinking” stage, consider an I Love Me Journal. This is an easy way to create a habit to positive thinking, resulting in abundance!
Creating a New Beginning with your thoughts may be what you need to create success in 2013!

Have you ever wondered why some fighters fight with gloves instead of bare hands; consider how gloves soften the blow. Don’t get me wrong, getting hit by your opponent who is wearing gloves can knock your lights out!
Getting hit with bare knuckles is a more concentrated blow, and, without gloves you have the opportunity to grab your opponent which will give you more options in the fight.
Euphemistically speaking, when creating success in your business, do you want to approach it with the gloves on or with the gloves off? For instance, someone who works with the gloves on will tell you what you want to hear, take your money, and allow you to walk away with a smile on your face. Working with someone with the gloves off will show you how your past choices have gotten you where you are and empower you to make some tough choices that could result in creating greater success in your life. In parenting, we call this “tough love.”
When looking for a mentor or coach, do you want to work with someone who works with the gloves on or with the gloves off? When working with a client do you tell them what they want to hear, take their money and walk away, or do you stand in your power and empower them to understand why what you have to offer can make a difference in their life?
When you are asking yourself why your business isn’t where you would like it to be, do you ask yourself with the gloves on or with the gloves off? Many people will simply shrug and convince themselves that they tried their hardest as they give up, but that is simply a defensive statement we learn to make to justify to ourselves why we did not get what we wanted (gloves on mentality).
What if you were to think with the gloves off? What New Beginnings could you create in your life or business? Do you begin to see the possibilities of what is available to you?
When you start working your business with the gloves off, how much more concentrated will your results be? Step into your power, reclaim your belief in why you do what you do, then go out and watch your business grow!
How much money do you spend each month getting your hair done, getting a manicure, or pedicure, a massage or facials? Most women will do almost anything to feel good about themselves and present the image they want others to see.
Although buying clothes, make-up, shoes, jewelry, and purses can lift our spirits in seconds, those material things rarely have the power to change us on the inside! Regardless of the image we present on the outside, the most important aspect of who we are is what is happening on the inside!
When we give to friends, family, work, job, community, home, often times there is little opportunity left to work on the “YOU” part of being a woman!
The “YOU” part of being a woman is what we do to improve who we are from the inside; mentally and spiritually. This is when we take the opportunity for self development and to understand ourselves and what makes us truly happy. I have met women who are just a sigh away from having a nervous breakdown because they are trying so hard to hold it all together and don’t take time for themselves. Shopping sprees and material things can only take us so far. Understanding ourselves and what we are truly passionate about will enable us to be our most healthy self.
Start by asking yourself, “What do I want?” At first you may only come up with ideas about what you don’t want, but you have to know what you don’t want before you can know what you do want.
Spending time with someone who will tell you “you can do it” instead of “why would you want to do that?” will allow you to pursue your dreams.
What kind of New Beginning could you create in your life if you were to spend time working on the “YOU” side of yourself as much as you do the outside or trying to please others? Investing in your “self”, means finding a way to put back in all that is taken out of you.
Are you so busy building your business, running the organization, being a mom, being a partner, or being forced to learn that next step to stay ahead of the game that you don’t take time for “YOU”? Self development is a key factor to your success in life.
When you truly understand the need for personal growth and then find the way to nurture the Inner Strength you possess, you will understand the gift that is “YOU”.
