5/26/2012 0 Comments Food For Thought! I asked 10 different people “why they eat”, and got 10 different answers. Some of the answers given were:
1. I’m hungry 2. I’m bored 3. I’m depressed 4. I’m happy 5. I like to cook, eating is part of cooking 6. Something to do when I watch TV 7. I am in training 8. When our family gathers, we eat! 9. It’s a: holiday, birthday, weekend, anniversary, special occasion… 10. A favorite of moms: I eat when I feed my family Out of the 20 or so people that I asked, not one of them told me they eat for nourishment or to keep their body healthy! "Let food be thy medicine & let thy medicine be food" -Hippocrates Our bodies require specific nutrients to maintain our health (think of the phrase: “you are what you eat!”) and yet many of us still think the 4 basic food groups are Fast Food, Frozen, Microwave, or Pizza Delivery. Our bodies are natural detoxifiers but with all of the processed food we consume it wreaks havoc with our body’s ability to sustain life. Eating healthy is easy to do, and it is easy not to do. What one food or drink can you eliminate in your diet or your family’s diet to start a New Beginning with your eating habits? Go ahead, accept my challenge; you have nothing to lose besides your bad habits!
