I had A LOT of work planned on Sunday. BUT THEN...
The thought of floating in the pool, relaxing, listening to music and some "ME" time was too inviting to pass up. Giving in to my heart's desire to rest and relax was something I hadn't realized I needed. As I lay on the raft, letting my mind wander, there were no thoughts other than what was going on at that exact moment.
Monday morning arrived and I to having had the best night's sleep in weeks. I simply moved some appointments around to compensate for taking Sunday off and started my week feeling relaxed and stress free. I was feeling so grateful for listening to my "higher self" and taking some much needed relaxation time and that's when I started wondering, "How many women take some much needed time for "self-care" and then beat themselves up over it the next day?"
As women, when we are over-worked, over-extended, over-obligated and even over-stressed, our thoughts tend to run more towards frustration or maybe even anger and feelings of overload.
When you plug too many devices into an electrical socket, you run the risk of blowing a fuse. When our life is like the electrical socket - on over-load - what can you do to lighten your load?
What would it take for you to give yourself permission to practice some self-care? You could:
Are you beginning to get the point? We can always find things to ADD to our "To Do" list; but when was the last time that you put yourself on your "To Do" list? Have you ever heard of someone creating memories and taking pictures during laundry day? Of course not, we take pictures of memories that we want to look back to bring smiles to our faces.
So the next time your "higher self' is suggesting you take a "ME" day, what would it take for you to treat yourself?
