Have you ever asked, "Why Me?" This information is the result of my own need to understand that question. I wanted to know why my childhood was filled with mental abuse, verbal abuse, and physical abuse that escalated to sexual abuse by the time I was 12. I wanted to stop believing I was bad. I wanted to stop feeling like a victim. I wanted to stop believing I was worthless but mostly, I wanted to stop finding myself in the presence of predators and abusers. Part of my answer led me to study Martial Arts and through my studies, I began to understand that the most powerful weapon we possess is our mind. As I stopped feeling the need for vengeance, or the constant need to defend myself, something shifted inside me. I started to see how my negative thoughts and feelings had been ruling my life, and because of that, I was constantly being triggered.
