Rainn rape, abuse & incest national network
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
The outcome of the Harvey Weinstein retrial is a powerful reminder of the challenges survivors face in court—even when they speak out with courage and there’s a known pattern of harm.
This verdict shows why it’s urgent to pass legislation like the proposed “Weinstein law” in New York, which would allow juries to hear about prior sexual offenses when considering a charge.

🔹 Jurors deserve to see the full picture.
🔹 Patterns of predatory behavior matter.
🔹 Survivors who bravely recount trauma in the pursuit of justice deserve a legal system that does not undermine the ability of jurors to reach fully informed decisions.

RAINN will keep fighting for survivors and advocating for a justice system equipped to respond fairly and fully to sexual violence.  If this case brought up difficult feelings for you, RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline is here.
